QRC is closing!

Marine Corps Base Quantico and Headquarters, Marine Corps have denied Quantico Riding Club’s request for the renewal of their 5-year Naval Facilities license for use of the Base Stables as a military equestrian riding and boarding facility.  In lieu of a license, QRC was given the option to either pursue a lease or cease operations.  As QRC is required to operate as a non-profit, it does not have the funds for the estimated $38K-46K initial processing costs and monthly fair market value rental fee required to operate with a lease.  Under these conditions, QRC unfortunately and regrettably has no option but to close when the temporary license expires 31 July 2012.   MCB Quantico is currently working with QRC for solutions, but until fair market rental value is determined, a lease or license is extended past July 2012, and new paddocks are built to replace paddocks taken by Dominion Power for a new substation, QRC is not intending to accept new members.  Active and active reserve military boarders PCSing to the Northern Virginia area will be considered by exception only until permanent boarding arrangements can be made.
